Christian Renewal Church is privileged to be the only church that is able to visit the inmates at the Glynn County Detention Center twice a year…the Wednesday before Christmas and before Mother's Day.
At Christmas we share Christmas Cards colored and personalized by the students of Heritage Christian Academy, Christian literature and homemade cookies made by members of our church family. For Mothers Day we take pre-stamped Mothers Day Cards, Christian literature and homemade cookies made by members of our church family. We usually prepare for over 450 prisoners and it takes great effort by our entire church body to “get it done!” That adds up to A LOT of cookies with 6-8 per bag! Updated information is posted in the weekly bulletin on the Home page during these times.
'I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me' (Matthew 25:35-36). |
News from the Jail
Following our Team visits into all the cell blocks of the
local jail, we received letters from inmates. Here are
some excerpts from the letters:
2008 Mother's Day update
“Thank you for the Mother’s Day blessings which we
received from your church.” - Douglas, Billy and Ernest.
“Please tell everyone who baked the cookies that the men could not
stop oohh-en and aww-en—not just for the cookies—but the thought
that someone really cares.” - Michael
“Thank you for all the love and prayers you have sent our way.” - Jerry
“Thank you for coming, handing out cookies and Mother’s Day Cards
and spreading the word of the Lord. It made me realize I need something
in my life. I pray that God will forgive me for I truly have
sinned.” - Timothy
