Meet Our Missionaries

Meet our Missionaries

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.May God bless you in 2008!
Your job is too small
[A missionary] was said to be more familiar with things Chinese than any other man at that time. Because of this, a large oil company sought to obtain his services. It sent a representative to offer him a salary of $10,000 a year. When he refused, the representative went up to $20,000, then to $25,000; then he invited him to set his own salary. In reply this missionary said, 'The salary you offered first is large enough; I am making only $1,200 a year. It is not your salary that is too small; it is your job. I have a bigger job than you can possibly offer.'

2008

June 29, 2008-

John & Judy Whitener, Guadalajara, MX-  John & Judy recently took teams of clowns and actors into a very depressed, crowded area of Guadalajara to help one of their mission school graduates who is starting a church. About 200 people attended the service and about 45 people jumped out of their seats to surrender their lives to Christ. The Whiteners send their thanks for the support of our church & individuals who make this ministry possible.

June 22, 2008-

Randy and Susan Bozarth, leaders of WMA (World Missions Advance) have sent us reports on Poland, which has only 0.15% of the population being evangelical Christians. Their two most principal needs are planting vibrant churches and equipping leaders.  They asked that we pray for the following: Randy and Chad in Romania - training leaders; Juan Valdez - with a youth camp in Austria; Pastor Marek and Marysia Kiewra in Gryfow Slaski, Ploand and their mission conference center; Vera and Nicole who are going to work with Pastor Marek in August; Dennis and Linda Shehan
in Gdansk, Poland with their Bible School.

June 15, 2008-

David & Leslye Schneier, Paris, France  The Schneiers are praying for the establishment of a training center for Messianic Jewish leaders for France and the finances for this center. They asked that we continue praying for a spiritual breakthrough in France.

June 1, 2008-

John & Judy Whitener, Guadalajara, MX The Whiteners sent the following info: They recently took a group to the park across from the civil hospital to witness and minister to the families of the patients living there, some in card board boxes. The team took sandwiches and drinks to the people and prayed for them. John preached for ten minutes, the group witnessed and there were 41 prayers for salvation.

May 25, 2008-

George & Janet Meyers, Calvary International-  The Meyers oversee many ministries worldwide.  Many of the ministries they are involved in are in Spanish speaking countries and include: Milk Distribution, Lice Clinics, Rainwater Catch-Ment Systems, Planting Papaya Seeds for a Cash Crop, a Stove Pipe Project to pipe smoke from the huts, Building Dry Latrines, Medical Outreaches, and Showings of the Jesus Film. Most of these projects
are in hard to reach areas to which all materials must be hand carried.

May 18, 2008-

John & Judy Whitener, Guadalajara, MX. - John & Judy are asking for prayer coverage for the Women’s Conference in Guadalajara the end of May. They say, “It is not a small thing when we say that this may be a spark that will ignite the dry tinder here in Guadalajara.”  “Send the fire, God!” Please pray also for several students from the Fire From Heaven Institute who will be taking a mission trip to Ecuador in May ministering in small tribes in the Amazon Jungle.

May 11, 2008-

George & Edilma Gonzales, Amazon Xpeditions- In January George & Edilma took a group into the jungles of the Amazon for two months. They ministered with medical teams and supplies in orphanages in tribes that have not been visited for many years.  The Lord has opened the door for them to return soon with favor and permission from the government. No missionary has been allowed in this remote territory since 1992. Missionaries who have gone into the Amazon Jungles in the past have been persecuted, held in captivity and even martyred for their faith. Please thank God for this open door and pray for the Lord to send laborers into this harvest and for the finances needed for this tremendous work of spreading the Gospel to those who have never heard it!

May 04, 2008-

David & Leslye Schneier, Messianic Jewish Movement in France and Europe - The Schneiers have moved to an apartment in the center of Paris, which is surrounded by the Sorbonne University, where they can minister to students. Please pray for clarity of mind for the leaders of France and Europe who struggle against all kinds of political, social and religious deceptions. Pray for France to roll back the anti-religious laws of 1905, for the finances for the Schneiers’ new home/ ministry center and for the financial needs of the conference participants.

Jody & Joanna Counts in Malaysia- have several prayer needs: (1) They had 40 decisions recently among the drug addicts, people with H.I.V., and those with deviant lifestyles. Pray for transformation in their lifestyles.  (2) Prayer support is needed for the ministry of a thrift store that they are planning on opening to provide funds and jobs for the people they minister to. (3) Jody needs prayer as he begins language classes to improve his skill in the Malay language. (4) Jody and Joanna have been praying for two years for a baby and are waiting for God’s timing. They hope to come to Brunswick before Thanksgiving.

April 6, 2008-

George & Edilma Gonzales, Amazon Xpeditions- George & Edilma recently returned from a trip to Peru along with 15 people, supplies and medicine. They cared for 450 patients and over all, in several locations, over 1,000 people were treated for numerous diseases. They always prayed for all to receive salvation and God’s love and mercy while having to overcome many language differences and dialects. They thank everyone for their prayers and financial help and ask for more volunteers for short term trips in July and September.

Randy & Susan Bozarth, World Missions Advance They have been ministering in China. In June Randy will be leading a pastors’ conference in Romania.  Susan will be traveling to Bryfow, Poland in September to speak at a Women’s conference and at meetings for pastors’ wives. There is normally no ministry in Poland geared specifically towards women. They request prayer for these meetings and the finances for these trips.

Jesse & Debra Deems, Transport for Christ, send thanks for the prayer, support & the Christmas gift from CRC that was sent to them.

February 24, 2008-

George & Janet Meyers, Calvary International have been traveling in Southeast Asia encouraging pastors and missionaries since December.  In Thailand, they were amazed to hear English Christmas carols playing in the stores and eating places in the cities. In Vietnam, National Christian leaders were boldly holding public meetings. Many successful outreaches were held. In Hanoi, 8,000 people attended and many other outreaches were taking place, with more than 2,000 people accepting Jesus as their Savior. In the Philippines, they visited several conferences and an orphanage in which many advances were made. Please continue to pray for: Sandra Kuehn in Bangkok in her fight against breast cancer, for plans “underway to empower Filipinos to fully participate in great commission ministry,” and the Calvary team, Khon Kaen as they are having difficulty obtaining missionary visas.

January 13, 2008-

From Janet & George Meyers: “Our warmest love and blessings to you from Asia. We were in Hanoi, Vietnam for Christmas & we have visited missionary friends in many places including Chiang Mai, Thailand. We are so grateful for your love and financial support!

2007

December 23, 2007-

George & Edilma Gonzales, Amazon Xpeditions - George recently went into “the valley” (undisclosed area, for security reasons) to see for himself how bad the situation was in that part of the Amazon.  He returned to the mission base with stories of a “horror movie.” Families from seven different tribes came by canoe for medical help at the town’s health department which has no way to meet their needs. Each tribe was placed in a separate 10’x 7’ room, quarantined and literally left to slowly & painfully die of hepatitis, T.B., malaria, and intestinal infections. There were 27 people in one room!  The authorities asked for help from UNICEF and other humanitarian organizations but only Amazon Xpeditions has
responded. The opportunity is finally here but the finances are not completely available. A team of volunteer doctors from Savannah are ready to go in about one week with medicine and food for the trip. The boat is ready but $12,000 is still needed for a motor. They only have one third of the estimated $1,550 needed for gas. These people are part of the 11 tribes for whom the Amazon team has been praying for 12 years to reach!
Now is the time - please help!

John & Judy Whitener, Guadalajara, Mexico - Angeles, who is John & Judy’s administrator in Guadalajara, Mexico was born with a cleft palate and now has serious bone loss in her mouth that can be slowed down with a year’s worth of surgery that will cost $7000. Timing is critical. She cannot eat or speak well.  Please pray for Angeles that the Lord will supply the finances that she needs for this crucial surgery.

December 16, 2007-

John & Judy Whitener, Guadalajara, Mexico—will be here with us for the Communion Watch Night Service on New Year’s Eve. They sent word on Dec. 6th that John recently returned from a mission trip to Cuba.. While in Cuba they would leave around 8:30am and return at midnight after ministering in several locations outside the city—where they had to meet in secret. Judy and her team are now in a city called Lazaro Cardenas where they will be part of an evangelistic thrust through presenting the Red Alert Drama. For additional information contact John & Judy at johnwhitener@prodigy.net.mx.

December 9, 2007-

George & Edilma Gonzales in the Amazon

George & Edilma have sent word that the boat that they have been writing us about should be ready at the shipyard in Iquitos, Peru. George should be in Peru by now to take the boat down river on the Amazon all the way to Leticia and to import it into Colombia. He needs prayer for safety as this is a dangerous area. The engine for which we prayed has been installed in the boat but even though $10,000 has already been contributed toward it, they still need $12,000 to pay it off. George will be going on the first trip into the Yavari River with a medical team and he will
be carrying God’s love to the eleven tribes that have never been reached with the Gospel of Jesus for over 2,000 years.

December 2, 2007-

Tom & Becky Wood are no longer serving with Good News Jail & Prison Ministry and are ministering in the Port St. John, Florida area where they live near many of their family. Their work, “Project Light” is focused on sharing the Gospel with young school age kids in housing projects. Prayer is needed for their house in Savannah to sell soon and God’s provision in their finances as they go through this transition.

November 17, 2007-

George & Janet Meyers, Calvary International inform us that Calvary graduates have planted 239 new churches in Asia.  Craig & Sandra Kuehn recently reported on the first class of the first Bible School ever conducted in Bhutan, hidden between India, Tibet and Nepal in the Eastern Himalayans, in which 75% are Buddhist and 25% Hindu.  The Meyers will be spending Thanksgiving holidays with their family in California, then going to Thailand 11/29-12/22.  From there they will go to VietNam 12/22-31.   They also have appointments in three locations in the Philippines.

November 4, 2007-

George & Edilma Gonzales have now been in the Amazon Jungle for 11 years. They say “We are believing God for laborers, equipment, and finances to accomplish the task at hand. Reaching out to eleven remote tribes has been a priority of this ministry.” They have sent several native missionaries into areas where the Gonzales are not permitted to go.  Three churches have been built in two of these remote tribes. Through their ministry a medical team is helping the sick and dying, most of whom are children. The ministry has recently been given a 29-foot boat to go into these remote areas of the Amazon Jungle. Please pray for the $12,000 still needed to purchase an engine.

October 28, 2007-

John Whitener, in Guadalajara, Mexico is really missing Judy while she is in the States, traveling and interpreting for Alejandra Martinez. John will be in Irapuato, Mexico & then in Cuba for a week of ministry in November. John thanks us for our prayers for their students, each of whom is preaching awesome 25 minute sermons as part of their class assignments.  John is very proud of their sincere dedication to the Lord. The service for the Lord is becoming more dangerous, please PRAY MORE CONSISTENTLY and harder for all Christians everywhere.

October 21, 2007-

George & Janet Meyers, Calvary International send a great report from Ariel and Paz Acuna in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Over the past nine months : There have been 1,133 new converts to Christianity, 81 healings, 83 new Bible studies have been begun, and 17 new churches have been planted. The Voice of the Martyrs Magazine is asking for prayer for the persecuted Christians in the Arab world. Many are killed, imprisoned, beaten, persecuted and ostracized. They quite often are not allowed to hold jobs. Situations in Malaysia, where Jody & Joanna Counts are located, Uzbekistan, North Korea, China, North Vietnam and all of the Arab world continue on attesting to serious problems.

October 14, 2007-

George & Edilma Gonzales, Amazon Xpeditions

We have all been praying for Edilma’s physical problems and surgery. She wrote on August 20th that she left for Colombia with peace in her heart. Her calmness surprised everyone. After five fours of surgery, she and the doctor were both in amazingly good spirits. After Edilma told the doctor about all the prayers that went out for them and about the mission work in the Amazon, he volunteered to travel with them on the next medical clinic! She went home two weeks early, without antibiotics or pain medication! Meanwhile George has gone back into the Amazon where, thanks to a donation from Feeding the Hungry Ministry, they have raised the number of children fed each day to 1,000 at five Feeding Stations. They usually receive a lot of oppression and jealousy from others. As a result of the Feeding Stations, people who never wanted to attend church are now faithful members because their children are getting fed before they go to public school and tell their family about Jesus!

October 7, 2007-

From John & Judy Whitener, Guadalajara, Mexico
“Occasionally we are faced with a challenge in which we need the help of our supporters. This is one of those times: as most of you have been aware, the Harvesters (Cosechadores) have had several opportunities to reach a large number of souls for Christ recently.
What you may not know is there is more than one group of these people. The Harvesters are in Ecuador, Africa, Mexico and...Cuba. The director of Cosechadores in Cuba has miraculously been given permission to go to Mexico, leaving behind his wife, child, and parents. He must put up “bail” of about $3,000 which must be forfeited if he does not return. This trip will be a time of training and encouragement, not a vacation in Cuba. He has had tremendous success and has faced incredible obstacles. A church in Mexico will possibly put up the bail money, but he needs $800 for a round trip ticket. If you feel led to help this dedicated man of God, please make your check payable to Christian Renewal Church and designate its purpose on the offering envelope. Thank you for your prayers for this situation.
Email John Whitener at www.johnwhitener@prodigy.net.mx.

Sept. 30, 2007-

GEORGE & SHELLIE COUNTS, Youth With A Mission, in London, England are working as Christian Counselors in the Family Counseling Center. The lead counselor works with the clients in one room and the Reflecting Team watches from another room. The team later joins the leader and clients with questions and advice. Clients say they really appreciate the added help. Please pray for God’s equipping of each team member’s needs to be able to minister effectively and for their financial challenges to be met.

Sept. 23, 2007-

John & Judy Whitener, our missionaries in Guadalajara, Mexico have sent us an awesome report from the last few weeks. Two weeks ago, the Cosechadores (Drama Team) presented Alerta Roja (Red Alert) in Colima, resulting in about 200 praying to receive the Lord! Two weekends ago, they presented this drama in a local church on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and 488 responded to the call! This was so overwhelming they were invited back for last Sunday night.

Sept. 16, 2007-

Wasn’t it great to have so many of our missionaries in church with us last Sunday?! May the Lord bless each of them!

Update on Tom & Becky Wood: Tom & Becky are leaving the Good News Jail & Prison Ministry, in Chatham County and are moving to Florida where they will be closer to family. They ask that we please pray that their home in Savannah will sell!

Update on David & Leslye Schneier: David and Leslye have left the Ukraine and will be ministering in France to the Jewish community. Please pray that the Lord will direct them in finding a good place in a safe area.

Sept. 4, 2007-

Bob and Sara Phillips in Honduras

Jean reports that Hurricane Felix hit mainly on Nicaragua and that Honduras got the off side of the storm. Honduras did not get the anticipated flooding. Praise the Lord! Bob and Sara will be coming to the U.S. September 15th for awhile to get more supplies and build support.

August 30, 2007-

George & Edilma Gonzales - Amazon Xpeditions Outreach
“There has been much prayer believing for Edilma’s healing; so far there has been no change in her condition. It is not Cushing’s syndrome as the doctors thought at first, but it is a tumor on her left suprarenal gland, over her kidney, that sends her chemical and endocrinal system totally out of control. The condition makes her blood pressure go from very low to very high in a matter of minutes several times a day and doctors have been concerned with the high risk for a stroke. They have received 65% of the funds necessary for her surgery but still need $3,200 to cover the total expenses. Her surgery was scheduled for 8/27. Thank you for your prayers for Edilma & George. They will be grateful to hear from you. www.amazonxpeditions.com

AMAZON XPEDITIONS OUTREACH, INC., George & Edilma Gonzales report: “The training center is ready and it is really nice! Lots of classrooms and dorm space! Classes will soon start. 50% of the classes are Work Training and 50% Discipleship Training and Bible Study. The results will be strong and committed indigenous Christian believers equipped to succeed! Needs: 14 bunk beds for students and visiting teams; appliances and four small A/C units. Also a construction team is needed for 10 days to finish the Shop Area.

August 17, 2007-

Pastor Moses Choudary, Maranatha Ministries, India Moses has written to CRC to inform us of the following:

“We have opened the new ministry base at Visakha, India, a beautiful beach city of over 3 million people. Padma & Silas have moved to Visakha to do the ministry. We have also rented a four-story building for the Children’s Home and Bible School as well as another hall nearby from the same owners. Thank God for His favor in providing us this facility. Approximately 65 children, 25 students and 10 staff live in this building and more are waiting for admission. These are all walking to good Christian school. The stories on these children are heartbreaking.

2006

(DECEMBER 2006 UPDATES)

December 10, 2006 John & Judy Whitener - Guadalajara, Mexico Classes have begun at Fire From Heaven Institute. To date, John says they have 29 students “who are hungry for God.” This semester Ron Smith from Eatonton, Georgia will be with them teaching on “Living to Give.” Angel Flores, a highly respected pastor of a large church in Guadalajara will be teaching on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. John and Judy will carry the bulk of the teaching load along with a few other teachers. This semester the school is implementing a new requirement. The students will be required to participate in a mission trip...the first one will be to Oaxaca, Mexico and then next year the trip will be to Guatemala. In September John was invited to minister in Los Angeles, California. He ministered in the back yard of the home of Luis Cedana and his wife, Gloria. They started with 20 people the first night, and by the end of the week there were 45 salvations, several received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, had first loves restored and healings. John was able to see the site where the Azusa Street Revival began! He was surprised to see only a plaque there, no church monument. He felt he was standing on holy ground and thought, “Isn’t that just like God? The seed dies and leaves a shell that will decay but look at the fruit that comes! Please continue to pray … for God’s work through the Whiteners. Bob & Sara Phillips—Honduras Sara has sent word that “All is well and the building is coming along. The footings have been poured and the blocks were scheduled to begin on November 20th. Thank you for all your prayers and all you’ve done to help us!” December 10, 2006 John & Judy Whitener - Guadalajara, Mexico Classes have begun at Fire From Heaven Institute. There are over 2,000 people in Penang with HIV and the planned center will provide for feeding, counseling, clothing, showers and especially Bible studies. Jody has also requested prayer for Joanna as she has been breaking out with rashes which may be caused by stress. George & Janet Meyers with Calvary International will be in Central America until December 16th. Dave & Dorothy Henry from Grand Rapids, Michigan will direct the Global Training and Ministry Base in Guatemala in the future. They adopted three children five years ago after having already raised their own three children. The names and ages of their adopted children are Mary, 10; Jonathan, 8; and Ana, 5. The Meyers tell us, “Calvary focuses on the rural villages and primary health care and The Spurriers are working at the hospital level for people who have needs beyond what a local health promoter can handle.” George & Janet will go next to Honduras to help Bob & Sara Phillips with strategies on how to make the hospital self-sustainable for the future. Bob & Sara are building a small hospital on the island of Roatan. Bob is a builder and Sara is an R.N. Sadly, Bob is experiencing a lot of breathing difficulties and they will need to make a long and difficult journey with George & Janet to the north coast of the mainland of Honduras for advice and help. Please lift Bob up in your prayers. They will be conferring with Dr. Jeff & Rosanne McKenney, who manage Hospital Loma de Luz, a large medical work caring for about 20,000 patients each year. The Meyers will also work with Wyly and Candy Gammon, missionary colleagues in San Pedro Sula, to “strategize” with them about a new opportunity separate from their effective children’s ministry, Street Reach International. A church that they work with has been given a 7-acre plot of land which lies an hour outside of the city. They want to discuss which crops would be the best to grown on the land to supplement the food supply for an orphanage in the area. Please pray for George & Janet’s strength and endurance, as well as for wisdom to share God’s best with these dear colleagues. December 10, 2006 Jody & Joanna Counts—Penang, Malaysia Jody & Joanna are asking for prayer for five staff members for the HIV Ministry Resource Center and the right place for this ministry.
